The Torpoint Police Neighbourhood team, working with Devon & Cornwall Police Legal Services Team, Cornwall Council’s Anti-social Behaviour Team and Cornwall Housing, were recently successful with applications to Cornwall Magistrates Court, for premise closure orders for two properties within Harvey Street, Torpoint. The premises were associated with significant and persistent crime and disorder and the community sought a response. One of the premises is now partially closed, with only the tenants and statutory bodies having lawful access. The other is fully closed with only Cornwall Housing permitted entry. The decision to apply for a closure order is not one we make lightly. It is a process that involves a lengthy investigation and lots of work with the community and our partners, during which warnings are given and opportunities to steer a different path are made available. Anti-social behaviour is harmful and we will continue to work with our partners and the community to put a stop to it and when it becomes necessary, we will not hesitate to take enforcement to do so. | |
