Burglary Advice |

|
Hello all,
There was an Attempted Burglary reported in Wiltshire Avenue on 10/01/2026 at about 1840 hours. Suspects unknown have used force to open the front door, after ringing the doorbell (receiving no answer) and probably thought no-one was home. Suspects were disturbed by the occupant.
Please install a house alarm to deter Burglars.
If you have a UPVC front door, please correctly lock this door, by lifting the handle and turning the key. Do this all the time, so it becomes a habit.
Do not leave door keys in patio doors, when you are not home/overnight. Suspects have been known to force open windows or smash the glass next to the rear door and simply let themselves into your house.
Install sensor lights at the front and rear of your house.
Use timer lights inside your house, so it looks as if someone is home. Do not leave your house in darkness between 1700 - 2100 hours.
Think garden security. Install trellis on top of your fence to increase the height. Also consider prickly bushes (if practical) as this will make it difficult for suspects to get through.
Do not keep a large amount of cash in your home. Put this in the bank.
