Crime Prevention Advice - Burglary |
||
|
Good morning all,
There was a Burglary in Parkstone Avenue on 03/01/2026 at about 1840 hours, where suspects unknown have accessed the rear garden by garden hopping from Oakwood Chase, climbing up on top of a new outbuilding and have then likely used a crowbar to force open a window, to gain access into the master bedroom. Once inside, suspects conducted an untidy search of the bedroom, removing the safe and stealing Jewellery, before the homeowner disturbed them.
If you live in a substantial size house, please consider the following crime prevention advice:
Set your house alarm to work on an upstairs floor, while you are living downstairs. Your alarm company should be able to do this for you.
You can alarm every window in your house, so you will be alerted should the contact be broken.
You can install sensors in your rear garden, so you will be alerted before suspects reach your house.
Do not keep a large amount of cash in the house, put this in the bank.
If you have a safe, you could look to install a floor safe and put this into concrete and conceal in the ground floor. This makes the safe harder to find and then remove.
If you own a number of high value motor vehicles, please consider placing a cover over them, if they are parked on the front drive. I understand this does not necessary disguise what type of vehicle this is, but the thought behind this is that, you are removing the vehicle from sight and no-one is seeing it anymore.
A steering wheel lock is the best deterrent for car thieves.
