Burglary Alert - Birch Green

Good afternoon,

Earlier this month, officers attended a report of a burglary whereby 2 offenders wearing balaclavas gained access to a property in the Birch Green area and took an electric bike from the address. 

This incident is currently still under investigation and officers are doing work behind the scenes regarding this incident (and others similar to this incident) to arrest the offenders.

It is believed that the offenders are scoping out addresses in the area that have e-bikes in them and are entering properties with the only intention of stealing e-bikes. 

We are making local residents aware of this in case there is anyone with an e-bike in their address. If you do have an e-bike, make sure that it is marked/ tagged and registered on the Bike Register website - The National Cycle Database | BikeRegister 

We advise e-bike owners to be discrete and careful when showing off/talking about their e-bike/s. We also encourage local residents to be vigilant and to install cctv at their address. Always report suspicious activity to us via 101. 

We also do pop up Bike Marking events every few months where we register your bikes for FREE (bike's frame number and the owner's email address is needed for us to register the bike). We promote these events on our ITK & Facebook platforms so be sure to keep your eyes posted for any updates we put out.
