Weekly Round-up! |
||||
Good afternoon Resident,
Apologies as I am a bit late with my update this week as I have had some annual leave, so I'm catching up with everything that has been going on myself. That won't stop me bringing all this weeks news from the city centre team to you!
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – Six arrests were made by city centre officers this week for a variety of different offences. Firstly, an individual was arrested at a retailer after their facial recognition system identified them as previously shoplifting in store, they were quickly detained by store security and officers attended to make the arrest. Multiple other arrests included Failure to appear at court, theft and going equipped to steal, and one for criminal damage. The final arrest made by city centre officers was for a £1600 theft from HMV, where the individual has stolen items from HMV and successfully managed to sell items to CEX in Wolverhampton. The male was identified and promptly arrested the following day as he sought to re-enter CEX and sell more items. Officers from the Homicide department also arrested two males in connection with the murder of Trey Johnson after they both presented themselves to the Central Police Station front office. Along with these arrest made, city centre officers carried out some early morning arrest attempts on some of Wolverhamptons most wanted individuals.
Community Engagement – Unfortunately due to the severe weather conditions some of our community engagement had to be cancelled, this include the planned Crime Prevention Stand at Central Library, many apologies for this and these events will be rescheduled so keep an eye out for them. One thing we did manage this week was a meeting with staff at JustRamps Skatepark, PCSO Wykes and DNO Moore-Harbach had a very productive conversation which will hopefully lead to planned meeting with Wolverhampton City Council regarding the state of the Penn Island Skatepark. We are hoping to put plans in to place to revamp the area to make it more appealing and safer for kids to skate, scoot and Bmx!
Guardian Patrols – Regular guardian patrols carried out this week with nothing of note to report. The usual focus for our patrols was Dudley Street, St Peters Gardens and Victoria Street. Servator Patrols were carried out by specially trained officers this week as well, you may have been them about on your travels through the city centre.
Night-Time Economy – NTE was extremely quiet this week with Storm Goretti causing chaos. Nothing to report from the city centre teams, other than it was a very cold evening.
Other News - In other news a male has been handed a banning order from McDonalds due to his continuing abuse of staff, this has also been recorded as a breach of his Community Protection Notice. PCSOs Wykes and Francis also dealt with an 82 year old Female this week who turned up at the Job Centre claiming to have lost her phone, car keys and even her car. After lengthy discussions with the female, and staff at the Job Centre it was clear that she was showing signs of Dementia, we promptly returned her back home to the retirement village where she lived and had a conversation with staff about safeguarding.
