We’ve received increased reports of individuals trying car doors and breaking into vehicles in and around the Ashby area.
While officers are carrying out additional patrols, we’re asking residents to take a few simple steps to help reduce opportunities for offenders:
🔐 Secure your vehicle
Always double‑check doors are locked and windows are fully closed.
Make sure wing mirrors have folded in (if your vehicle does this automatically).
🚫 Remove anything attractive to thieves
Take valuables with you — even loose change, bags, sunglasses, or charging cables can tempt an offender.
Remove or hide any items that suggest valuables may be inside (sat-nav mounts, laptop bags, etc.).
🌙 Park smart
Use well‑lit or busy areas where possible.
If you have a driveway, park close to your property and consider motion‑sensor lighting or CCTV.
📱 Report suspicious activity
If you see someone trying door handles or acting suspiciously, report it immediately via 101 or online.
Always call 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress.
