I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. There has been an increase in residential burglaries in the last 3 months in Ealing Broadway and the surrounding area.
We urge residents to ensure they do the following things to protect their property from burglary:
• Activate alarms upstairs as well as downstairs • Keep upstairs windows and doors locked, especially when not at home • Leave lights or electronics on to make it appear as though occupants are at home • Move anything in the rear of your property that would make it easy to climb such as bins • Secure safes to the ground or wall • Do not leave jewellery in sight or in an obvious location • Activate CCTV and doorbell cameras (including in the rear of the property)
Recent burglary offences have occurred across both houses and flats (including upper floor flats). Offenders predominantly gain entry through rear doors or windows, which are commonly forced or smashed, in some cases using a crowbar. Jewellery is the modal item stolen. Burglaries have taken place across the whole of Ealing but repeat streets include Eaton Rise, Mount Park Rise and Argyle Road.
If anyone sees something suspicious or believes they have information relating to a recent burglary, please could they email Ealing Broadway neighbourhood team on ealingbroadway@met.police.uk .
The local neighbourhood policing team and the proactive policing team are both working to piece together evidence and arrest offenders who are committing burglaries in the area.

While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you: Double lock your door every time you leave the house If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access. Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows. Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through. If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house. Make sure all valuables are out of sight. Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps. In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on. Set your burglar alarm Lock your shed or garage Mark, register or record your valuables.
