Dear Resident,
focusing on greater awareness of Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG), we want to remind you of the services available to you.
Street SafeStreetSafe is an online tool that can be used by anyone to anonymously tell us about public places where they have felt or feel unsafe. You might have felt unsafe in your local area due to anti-social behaviour or environmental factors, such as a lack of street lighting, poorly lit streets, abandoned buildings, or vandalism, as well as instances where you feel unsafe due to someone following or verbally abusing you. We encourage you to share your experience using the StreetSafe tool. The information you provide will be considered alongside evidence already gathered by police forces and will be used to inform policing and local authority safety activities within your community. Data is used to pinpoint hotspots that may need an increased police presence, ensuring officers are in the right place at the right time.
Please note: StreetSafe is not for reporting crimes or emergencies. If you witness a crime please report it to us online. If you're unsure whether something is a crime or not, read our advice. Examples of situations that should be reported to StreetSafe include a poorly lit alleyway that makes you feel unsafe or a park with broken equipment that poses a safety hazard.
Ask for AngelaAsk For Angela, an initiative that provides you with a phrase you can use to get help from staff if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable in licensed premises, such as bars and clubs. We have been working with licensees across the City to build relationships with staff, and provide information and training to help keep customers safe. If you are need to report a crime, please dial 999 in an emergency and 101 for a non-emergency, or click here.
