A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following a fatal assault in Hemel Hempstead. David Lewis, aged 38, of Fennycroft Road in Hemel Hempstead, appeared at Luton Crown Court this morning (Thursday 8 January). He pleaded guilty to causing the death of forty-eight year old Jack Oliver Frogell, who was best known to his friends and family as Olly. The incident happened at a private charity event at Hemel Hempstead Town Football Club in the early hours of Saturday 25 October 2025. Olly was taken to hospital and sadly died on Tuesday 4 November 2025. Following a witness appeal, Lewis was arrested the day after the assault. Detective Inspector Caeva Taylor, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “David Lewis’s behaviour could not have been further from the spirit of a charity event. He took Olly’s life and shattered many more lives in doing so. My thoughts are with Olly’s family and friends as they continue coming to terms with the shock of his death.” The court bailed Lewis and he will be sentenced on Wednesday 25 March. Olly’s family request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time. | ||
