Bogus Workmen - Suspicious Circumstances |
||
|
Good afternoon,
Blackburn Neighbourhood Policing Team have been made aware this afternoon of a male that is knocking on peoples addresses stating that they need work doing to their house or garden.
Police are warning residents to be alert to bogus traders operating in the area. These individuals may knock on your door offering to carry out repairs or maintenance, often claiming the work is urgent or offering a ‘special price’. Once paid the work is poorly done, overpriced or not carried out at all. Sometimes the traders may return to try and gain more money.
Please make sure that you always ask to see ID, do not accept any work doing that you have not agreed to and do not under any circumstances hand over any money, bank details or personal information. Legitimate traders will not pressure you for immediate payment or refuse to provide written quotes and identification.
If you are approached, say no, do not engage and report the incident to the police via 101 and quote log number LC-20260107-0504.
Please keep doors and windows locked and report anything that is suspicious on 101. If you feel threatened or at risk call 999.
Many Thanks | ||
