Please be advised that Ilford Town Ward supported a Live Facial Recognition (LFR) operation carried out yesterday (06/01/2026) within the ward, which resulted in positive outcomes.
The operation was conducted in line with Metropolitan Police Service policies, legal frameworks, and governance procedures. Live Facial Recognition technology was deployed as part of targeted activity to identify individuals wanted for serious offences such as stalking, burglary and others .
As a result of this operation, seven arrests were made, demonstrating the effectiveness of this tactic in identifying and locating individuals sought by police.
Local officers were present to provide reassurance to members of the public, engage with residents and businesses, and answer questions regarding the use of LFR. Officers explained the purpose of the operation, the safeguards in place, and how the technology supports public safety and crime reduction.
This activity forms part of Ilford Town Ward’s ongoing work to tackle crime, protect vulnerable communities, and maintain a visible and proactive policing presence. The operation was well managed and contributed to increased reassurance within the area.
