I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Dear Resident, We would like to make you aware of ongoing issues related to anti-social behaviour and suspected drug dealing in the Island Gardens area, specifically around Sherwood Gardens and Charnwood Gardens (E14). Our team is currently investigating numerous reports of individuals parking vehicles and engaging in activities such as using nitrous oxide (NOx) balloons and suspected drug dealing between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM. These individuals often use different vehicle registration numbers (VRMs) to avoid detection. If you witness similar incidents, please report them to the police immediately. You can also contact the Tower Hamlets Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Team to assist with the investigation. The police are conducting visible patrols to reduce crime in the area, but your cooperation is vital. As residents, you play an important role in keeping our community safe.
Safety Tips for Residents: 1. Do not approach individuals involved in suspicious activity. Your safety comes first. 2. Stay alert when walking in the area, especially during late hours. 3. Keep your doors and windows secure at night. 4. Report any suspicious vehicles or behaviour immediately to the police (dial 101 or 999 in emergencies). 5. Share information discreetly – avoid posting details on social media that could compromise investigations. 6. Consider joining local neighbourhood watch groups for community support.
Thank you for your continued support in making our neighbourhood safer. Stay vigilant and report concerns promptly.
We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years. |
