Theft from Motor Vehicle

On 5th January 2025 at 04:50 am a theft from a vehicle occurred on Turners Hill in Hemel Hempstead.

The victims car was parked on the road outside her property and at the material time a car drives by slowly, as the car was passing a male came up the road on a pushbike and tried the door handle of the car. While this was going on a further suspect was walking passed the car and the car opened. The suspect then searched the whole vehicle and stolen an item.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers and steering wheel locks.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
