Look out for your neighbours

As we welcome 2026 with a very cold weather (which will only get colder!) 

Can we keep an eye on our elderly and vulnerable neighbours.  A simple knock on the door is all it takes. Knowing your neighbours is an important communal and societal rights we often forget and neglect. 

By everyone taking an active role, we build community spirit and make a positive impact, ensuring our elderly and vulnerable residents and neighbours are given a better chance of good health and survival.

Approximately 20,000 to 50,000 older people die each winter in the UK due to cold-related illnesses, with one older person dying every seven minutes from such causes. In the winter of 2022/23, it was estimated that 4,950 excess winter deaths were caused by living in cold homes. These statistics highlight the significant impact of winter cold on the health of elderly individuals.
