Peckham Town Centre Team!

Since launching in August, the Town Centre Team (TCT) has been working hard to make Peckham Town Centre a safer and more welcoming place for everyone.

Over the past three months, officers have been out regularly on patrol, speaking with residents and businesses, and responding to the issues that matter most to the local community. This work has contributed to a noticeable reduction in crime and antisocial behaviour, particularly in the area around Peckham Pulse.

A key part of the team’s approach has been focusing on those causing the most harm. Through targeted activity and intelligence‑led patrols, officers have made 169 arrests, including many wanted individuals, and have removed dangerous weapons from the streets. They have also disrupted drug‑related activity, with a number of offenders receiving custodial sentences.

We recognise that challenges remain. One of the ongoing concerns involves offenders using bicycles to commit crime, especially along the Surrey Canal Path. To respond to this, specialist officers have been deployed to support the TCT. This has already led to five high‑harm offenders being arrested within just two days, showing encouraging early progress.

Looking ahead, the team has a series of planned operations, including joint work with specialist crime partners, to continue improving safety and supporting the community. We remain committed to keeping Peckham a vibrant and safe area for everyone who lives, works, and visits here.
