Weekly Update from your local Bablake NPT
Dear Members
Here’s your weekly update from myself and the rest of the team.
What’s Been Happening
Cannabis Factory Following recent intelligence the team discovered a cannabis factory in Holbrooks. Over 70 plants were recovered and equipment destroyed. If you suspect there is a cannabis set up near you, please get in touch via 101 or by using our online webchat.
Suspicious Male On Saturday night in Radford we received a call of a suspicious male. Officers completed an area search and found a male matching the description. Upon making comprehensive checks, the male was lost rather than anything untoward. Quite often, responding to calls of sus behaviour leads us to finding vulnerable/ potentially vulnerable and missing people. The male was taken home.
Arrest Whilst on vehicle crime patrol, officers saw a male running away from a vehicle. This got their spider senses going and after a short foot chase, the male was apprehended. The reason soon became apparent, and the ‘sprinter’ was arrested for immigration offences.
Icy Weather Following the festivities and normality returning, with the cold weather, please don't leave your vehicle unattended when trying to de-ice and warm it up. Thieves actively look for idling cars on cold mornings which is sometimes referred to as ‘frost jacking’. It can take seconds for someone to jump in and drive away. Insurance could refuse to pay out if your car is stolen in this manner as it’s considered as failing to take reasonable care.
Also take extra precaution when driving in the current icy conditions. Keep your distance from other vehicles, braking distances on ice can be 10× longer than normal! Be prepared for sudden changes in grip, especially on untreated roads, rural or roads that are shaded. Watch out for black ice which looks like a slightly glossy, wet surface and is extremely hazardous. Be prepared, keep warm clothing, blankets, food, drink, torch, phone and charger in case of a breakdown or emergency.
Crime Figures Since our previous WM Now update on 17th December for Bablake, there has been one vehicle offence being an unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle (suspect identified), two burglaries, being a residential burglary on Thompsons Road and a business burglary on Wallace Road.
On behalf of your local neighbourhood team, here's to a happy and safe 2026.
Until next week Stay safe everyone.
