Severe Weather Emergency Protocol |
||
|
Dear Resident
The GLA have activated the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) from the 2nd January until at least the 5th January.
Due to temperature falling below zero SWEP has been activated which means emergency bedspaces will be available for those rough sleeping. It will definitely be open until the 5th January.
This means across London emergency bedspaces will be opened up to provide accommodation for people who would otherwise be outside rough sleeping in the cold.
Local authority's response in Tower Hamlets Outreach are going out on shifts finding people bedded down, completing a risk assessment, and placing them in accommodation. This will continue on a daily basis whilst SWEP is activated. The local authority have a plan in place to support those in need with a range accommodation available in conjunction with charity partners.
As in previous activations people can only be placed through our Outreach Team run by St Mungo’s so please continue to make Streetlink referrals for people found bedded down at : StreetLink - Connecting people sleeping rough to local services.
