I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Dear residents, Last night around 10 PM, I went on my late-night patrol and I had to knock on some of the residents' doors for different reasons to gently warn them. This was because one of the resident they had placed a one large and one three-step ladder in front of their doors. The ladders weren't open, but I didn't believe someone with bad intentions would use them for good. As your local officer that was my concern, and that was my first knock after my explanation and a reason resident thanked and take the ladders in. I also disturbed some of the other residents about their car window living them open. Yes, this shouldn't be the case, and we shouldn't fair. But unfortunately, even though we talk about the new year and new hopes, we know that a thief won't change their mind overnight. Therefore, please, protecting your homes and belongings is your responsibility first and foremost. Take precautions so that your hard-earned possessions aren't stolen and enjoyed by others.
While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you: Double lock your door every time you leave the house If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access. Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows. Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through. If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house. Make sure all valuables are out of sight. Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps. In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on. Set your burglar alarm Lock your shed or garage Mark, register or record your valuables.
