Glossop SNT - Happy New Year
Today marks the last day of 2025, and celebrations will soon get underway to welcome in the new year. Many of you will be out enjoying your celebrations across Derbyshire – and we wanted to remind you of some of the work we’re doing to ensure everyone stays safe and has a new year to remember. Our licensing teams have been working closely with our bars, pubs and clubs, raising awareness and providing support to enable them to spot any issues and recognise when someone is in trouble or vulnerable. In particular, the team have been speaking about the ‘Ask for Angela’ approach. If there is someone making you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or not leaving you alone whilst you're out, you can head to the bar and ask for Angela, and staff will be trained to help you safely and discretely out of the situation.
There are also a number of handy hacks and tools you can use to ensure your new year celebrations are remembered for the right reasons.
📱 Hollie Guard: The personal safety app can make it so a simple tap or shake of your phone can send a discreet alert to your emergency contacts if you feel that you are in danger. It will also automatically record video and audio evidence of what is happening around you. 🔋 Ensure your phone is fully charged, and take a full portable charger, especially if you are relying on this to communicate with your friends or get home. 🚕 Taxis can get busy this time of year – you can book a reputable taxi in advance, or set a designated driver in your group who will stay sober.
Our officers will also be conducting extra patrols – we hope you don’t need us, but if you do, they will be around. Speak to us if you see us. You can also report any areas you feel unsafe via the StreetSafe reporting tool – which is used by both our officers and partners to plan and target their work.
In an emergency, call 999. You can a;lso use the below to make contact • Phone – call us on 101 • Website – we have Live Chat on our website, or you can use our online contact forms: www.derbyshire.police.uk • Facebook – send us a private message through our main Facebook page.
