Operation Frost Watch

Good morning,

Merton Safer Neighbourhoods initiated Operation Frost Watch between 17th November - 24th December 2025 to target offenders and reduce crime in the following areas -

The illegal and/or anti-social use of E-Bikes and/or high powered electric bikes and scooter, often linked to street Robbery or snatch offences

Violence against women and girls

The seasonal rise in drink/drug driving

Apprehending offenders wanted by the Police or Courts

During this Operation, we worked closely with our specialist colleagues from Traffic, as well as Merton Local Authority. I am pleased to report that our proactive efforts were very productive and can be summarised as follows -

57 Arrests made, including apprehending 15 individuals who were already wanted by either the Police or the Courts

95 stop searches carried out

37 E-Bikes/Scooters seized

56 people reported for multiple traffic offences, making our roads safer

7 offensive weapons seized

1 firearm recovered

1 Closure Order secured

I hope this will offer you all some reassurance, that we are listening to your local concerns and working hard to address them. We appreciate there is always more to do, but I am very proud of the hard work and productivity our of our Officers who are consistently trying to make Merton a safe place for us all.

Community crime fighting in Merton will continue in 2026 with more operations and great work planned.
