We hope you are enjoying the Festive Season.

Our Officers have been working hard to keep everyone safe and over the last few days and there have been many proactive patrols.

One of these patrols resulted in two youths being arrested from a bus on Chelmsley Wood Interchange. A parent received a concerning message saying males were trying to rob a bracelet from their child. The parent drove to Chelmsley Wood and when they arrived at the bus Interchange Officers were already patrolling the area so boarded the bus and apprehend the offenders. Whilst conducting a search of one of the offenders a knife was recovered. The child was safe and unharmed, happy to be met by Parent and Police.

We continue to uphold the conditions of the Public Space Protection Order and numerous youths are now past the education & warning stages, so if they continue to cause ASB in the PSPO area their parents will be receiving fines.

Our Officers have led the way in identifying, interviewing and dealing with the youths that caused issues on the Interchange over Halloween & Bonfire Night. No one wishes to criminalise young people and we have many options & programs available to help us re-educate and/or support children and their families. But we cannot have them being a danger to themselves, residents & members of the public or the emergency services, this type of behaviour will not be tolerated. You might think the youths “get away with it” as they disperse on our arrival but believe me there are hours of CCTV footage that gets viewed after the incidents.

We want you to feel safe on our streets and here are a few precautions you can take when out walking.

Keep valuables out of view, this includes jewellery and phones. Take minimal possessions out with you.

If possible put your coat over the top of a cross body bag keeping it well hidden. There are some great travel bags on the market with anti-slash straps and built in RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to block the signal from your contactless bank cards.

Use inside pockets and don’t be tempted to play on your phone when standing at bus stops or queuing in shops.

Take well-lit main road routes to your destination, don’t take short cuts which are often through alleyways, parks and garage areas where lighting is poor and the ground is rough.

Crime Updates

Between the 19th & 23rd Dec, a garage was broken in to on Aspen Drive. Offender/s stole a yellow bicycle, and various high value tools. Investigation is ongoing as CCTV has been requested.

At 14:55hrs on 21st Dec, numerous vehicles were damaged on Moorend Ave, as children threw bottles and stones at the traffic. If you have Dash Cam footage of any of the incidents please get in touch.

Overnight 21st/22nd Dec, a V/W T-Roc was stolen from Berwicks Lane.

Overnight 21st/22nd Dec, the window of a BMW was smashed and a bag and coat stolen from inside. Vehicle was parked on Berwicks Lane.

Between 05:45 & 09:30 on 22nd Dec, the foot bumper lights & number plate were stolen from a Ford vehicle in the Brookfarm Walk area.

Between 24th- 26th Dec, the front bumper, lights and number plate of a Cupra vehicle were stolen whilst parked on Yorkminster Drive.

Between midnight on the 25th & 12:00 on 26th Dec, the rear patio door of a residence on Salmon Drive was smashed. Offender/s entered the property and stole a TV and gold jewellery.

Between 21:30hrs on 27th & 12:00hrs on 28th Dec, a Smart Fortwo vehicle was stolen from Ashwood Drive.

Between 24th – 27th Dec, a Citroen vehicle was damaged, a scratch along the length of the vehicle, whilst parked on Beech Ave.
