Hello and welcome to the latest update from your neighbourhood policing team.
As part of my role as your Neighbourhood Inspector, I regularly meet with key local partners to discuss policing in the district and identify any issues of concern.
What follows is a brief summary of what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and the impact we are having across our communities.
Our current local police and partner priorities are: What have we been doing about them?
Compared to this time last year, we have seen a 13% decrease in antisocial behaviour across Broxtowe, which is great news. Officers have been out patrolling the Beeston area to deter ASB and crime. This includes targeting prolific local offenders who are responsible for a disproportionate amount of offending. The riorties will end In January 2026 and replaced with new priorities.
We have also been working with Broxtowe Borough Council on Operation Cognition, which sees officers engaging with communities as part of a campaign to raise awareness of the consequences of taking alcohol and cocaine together.
Dispersal Orders Dispersal orders have also been used at recent events – including the Eastwood Christmas lights switch-on – to take pre-emptive action against troublemakers.
Returned to jail Prolific shoplifter Kelly Freestone has also been returned to prison for 12 months after stealing from shops across the district and for breaching her CBO.
Rounding up outstanding offenders We also carried out a Day of Action targeting offenders who were outstanding for offences and failing to appear before the courts.
Community concerns Concerns over drug dealing are often raised with us, and work is always ongoing to identify and gather evidence against those responsible.
Burglaries We recently issued a public warning after a spate of burglaries in Eastwood. We also had a spate of burglaries at student accommodation in Beeston, which I know caused a lot of local concern.
Iona caught on CCTV. He’s currently on remand awaiting sentence
News A dangerous male, Andrew Hallam, from Beeston has been sent to prison for several offences including assault, sexual activity with a girl under 15, indecent exposure, multiple counts of taking indecent photos of children and making indecent photos of children and secretly filming females for his own sexual gratification.
