Good Morning residents of Ashton Hurst, Yesterday (23/12/2025), GMP Tameside Neighbourhood Team along with GMP Traffic, conducted a traffic day of of action known as “Operation Considerate” on Lees Road (Ashton Hurst) & Manchester Road (Audenshaw). Operation Considerate is GMP’s dedicated policing operation that aims to detect a range of driving offences, prosecute individuals where necessary and raise awareness of how we can all be safer on the roads. 68 vehicles were stopped during the 2.5hr window that officers were on Lees Road, which resulted in a number of Traffic Offence Reports (TOR's) being issued for offences like non-conforming reg plates and ghost plates, vehicle defects as well as speeding offences. One vehicle was seized for having no valid insurance, and the driver was also arrested after failing a roadside drug test. Some education was offered to motorists as well in the form of words of advise. Enforcement and prosecution are important tactics we can use to help make the roads a safer place, but it is also about educating as many people as possible.
Operation Considerate runs all year in Manchester alongside other operations and in the run-up to Christmas. To members of the public, I would encourage you to do your bit by staying safe, being alert to your surroundings and reporting any incidents of dangerous driving to police using our online Operation Considerate portal."
