🚨 999 is for emergencies only 🚨
We’re asking the Broseley community to help us tackle a recent rise in malicious 999 calls being made from a phone box in town.
Since Tuesday 9th of December we have received nine malicious calls, including reports of people who were armed with knives on the Broseley High Street. Each of these calls has been proven to be untrue.
These hoax calls may seem like a joke to those making them, but they have real consequences.
Every time officers are sent to a false report, they are taken away from genuine emergencies where someone may truly need help. It puts the public at risk and it will be treated seriously.
We will be carrying out increased patrols in the area and reviewing CCTV to identify those responsible. Anyone found making hoax calls can face criminal action.
Please ensure young people understand the importance of using 999 responsibly. It should only ever be used for real emergencies, where there is an immediate threat to life or safety.
Let’s work together to keep Broseley safe and ensure our emergency lines are available for those who genuinely need them.
If you have any information about these calls, please contact Broseley's Safer Neighbourhood Team on bmw.snt@westmercia.police.uk |
