Safeguarding Alert: Increase in motorbike thefts in Medway

We are encouraging owners/riders in Medway to take extra precautions following an increase in reported thefts of motorbikes in the Medway Towns. Thieves are targeting bikes parked in residential areas, public car parks, and even bikes being ridden. We have noticed these crimes are committed by a group of young males on motorbikes.

To help keep your vehicle safe:

Use high‑quality locks: Combine a disc lock, chain lock, and ground anchor where possible.

Park in well‑lit, busy areas: Thieves are less likely to target bikes in visible locations.

Install tracking or alarm systems: These can deter theft and increase the chance of recovery.

Cover your bike: A simple cover can make your vehicle less appealing to opportunistic thieves.

Report suspicious behaviour: Quick reporting helps protect the wider community.

If your motorbike is stolen or you witness suspicious activity, contact us immediately and preserve CCTV footage, if any. Staying alert and taking preventative steps can significantly reduce your risk of becoming a victim.
