Local Priorities for the next three months

Chapel and Chinley Local Priorities

Theft

We have identified a rise in retail thefts in the local area and heard the concerns from retailers.

This time of year we see a rise in burglaries and understand the impact this has on the whole community

Action –

We are increasing our patrols in and around retail premises both using high visibility patrols and plain clothes patrols.

Parking

Concerns have been raised recently about the parking in and around all our local schools and in certain residential areas.

Action –

We as a team are looking at educating motorists and will continue patrolling in the areas at the relevant times.

Action has been taken where vehicles are parked in a dangerous manner that impacts the safety of other road users

We would encourage anyone who is wanting to report illegal parking to the councils Civil Parking Enforcement Team who are responsible for most parking offences like double yellow lines. You can do this by calling Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190 or emailing contact.centre@derbyshire.gov.uk

Speeding

Speeding is a big concern in all parts of the local area, but certain locations have been highlighted by residents.

Action -

We are conducting regular speed check throughout the area along with our Road Safety Team (CREST). Already we have issued traffic offence reports (TORs) to drivers exceeding the speed limit.

Residents have already set up Community Speedwatch schemes which are running well and would encourage anyone who is interested in setting up a scheme in their area to email the Speedwatch Team. adminCSW@Derbyshire.Police.UK

Whaley Bridge local Priorities:

Burglaries and Theft of Motor vehicles

Burglaries remains a high priority especially due to the effects it has on its victims and its community. We would ask the community to be extra vigilant and to report any suspicious activity at the time the incident occurs on either 999 or 101.

Action -

Anti-Social Behaviour

ASB has been identified as another issue effecting the community in Whaley Bridge. ASB ranges from nuisance neighbours, littering, illegal gatherings, anti social driving and drug use.

Action –

We are tackling these issues through targeted proactive patrols both in vehicles and on foot, utilising our policing powers through stop searches, S59 warnings/vehicle seizures as well as working with our local partners to reduce the impact these issues have on our communities.
