Appeal for information launched following attempted robbery in Derby city centre |

A 25-year-old man was approached by the suspect who began making threats and demanding money before pinning him against the wall outside Admiral Casino in Exchange Street. The victim was not injured in the incident which happened at about 7.45am this morning (Monday 22 December). He managed to ring police and officers arrived to arrest the suspect in Albert Street, close to Primark, just eight minutes after we received the call. The suspect, a 40-year-old man, also assaulted two police officers during his arrest. The suspect remains in custody and we are appealing for the public’s help for information as part of our investigation. It is believed a second man was assaulted by the suspect in Exchange Street at just after 7.50am. He is described as white, middle-aged with a medium build and of average height. He was wearing a black woolly hat, jacket with reflective zip on the front, blue jeans and black shoes, and was wearing a dark coloured rucksack with red detailing. We would like the second man who was assaulted to please come forward.
