Venue - ABBOTTS ROAD CHEAM Entry was gained via the rear garden door, the lock has been snapped off and entry was gained. Untidy search of the property, a Bottle of Champagne has been stolen, its believed the moped may have been the target.
How to Prevent Lock Snapping To prevent lock snapping, consider the following measures: Upgrade to Anti-Snap Locks: Look for locks with the Sold Secure Diamond standard (SS312) or at least a 3-star rating under TS 007. These locks are specifically designed to resist lock snapping attacks.
Correct Fitting: Ensure that the euro cylinder lock is fitted correctly, with the cylinder not protruding more than 3mm from the door unit or handle. This minimizes the visibility of the cylinder, which is a prime target for lock snapping.
Enhanced Security Handles: Consider fitting enhanced security handles that have achieved a 2-star rating under TS 007 for added peace of mind.
Professional Installation: It is recommended to hire a locksmith approved by the Master Locksmith Association to ensure the correct fitting and security of the locks.
By implementing these measures, you can significantly reduce the risk of lock snapping and enhance the security of your home.
While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you: Double lock your door every time you leave the house If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access. Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows. Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through. If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house. Make sure all valuables are out of sight. Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps. In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on. Set your burglar alarm Lock your shed or garage Mark, register or record your valuables.
