A man has been arrested after officers on #problemsolvingpolicing patrols found suspected heroin and a Nokia phone following a search in Burton-on-Trent.
We have been carrying out proactive patrols across 19 areas in Staffordshire as part of our efforts to tackle the issues affecting local communities the most.
Yesterday (Sunday 21 December), officers were out again in Burton-on-Trent and stopped a man in the town for the purpose of a search. He put something in a bin nearby when officers detained him, which we later recovered as suspected wraps of heroin. A mobile phone and cash was also found.
A 30-year-old man, from Burton-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug. He has been questioned in custody and released under investigation.
We've spent 10,000 hours on these proactive patrols in just over six months across 19 hotspot areas as part of our ongoing strategy to reduce crime in Staffordshire.
The patrols have seen crime rates fall by around nine per cent in areas that were identified as hotspots for serious violence, knife crime and anti-social behaviour.
