Mobile phone theft Concern Update

I wanted to provide an update regarding Mobile phone theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

We have noticed an increase in phone theft snatches, particularly along the High Road by Seven Sisters and the Tottenham Hale Retail Park.

These thieves who snatch phones typically use e-bikes, scooters or mopeds which gives them easy access to the pavement where they prey on unsuspecting pedestrians. It only takes two seconds for them to grab your phone out of your hand. There is currently a group of males operating in pairs using these modes of transport on the High Road known to be routinely snatching phones.

If you need to use your phone, scan your surroundings. Stand well back from the edge of the road and ensure you double check who is around you. Be aware of anyone who is wearing a balaclava and appears to be taking extra care and attention to people walking on the street.
