City Centre priority updates;
Priority 1 To promote safety during the night time economy in the City Centre
YOU SAID: -You want to enjoy the Leicester City Centre nightlife and feel safe whilst doing so. You want to ensure that licensed premises our operating in accordance with their license.
*DECEMBER UPDATE* -We have contained to support the night time economy and conduct checks at licensed premises. We have reported 2 door staff to the SIA for breaches. A further premise will receive a formal warning following some breaches of their license. -Operation Streetwise has been deployed numerous times to tackle issues with late night vehicle ASB on Granby Street and the surrounding area. Numerous vehicles were issues with S59 warnings for ASB and 3 were recovered following driving offences. -Project Vigilant has continued throughout the NTE with officers tackling inappropriate behaviour towards women and girls, preventing offences and making early interventions when required.
Priority 2 To reduce and prevent burglary in the City Centre
YOU SAID: -Burglary is a concern for you during the darker nights and you want your City Centre to be safe.
*DECEMBER UPDATE* -PCSO Jones supported a local business with a string of burglaries. After identifying the suspect he located him and with support the suspect was detained. He was remanded and received a custodial sentence. -Our PCSO's Tim, Hannah, Jane and Donna have been conducting engagement events across the City Centre and supporting local businesses with prevention advice and tools. -The team have been conducting dedicated patrols of hotspot areas to prevent and deter criminality. -PC Tom has worked with a restaurant following 2 break ins. The suspect was identified through CCTV enquires and following his arrest he has received a suspended sentence.
Priority 3 To reduce anti-social behaviour and misuse of space at Town Hall Square
YOU SAID: -You want to enjoy the Town Hall Square and surrounding area but ASB is a concern.
*DECEMBER UPDATE* -We have had a significant impact in this area with numerous positive stop searches and arrests for possession of drugs. -We have utilised our powers in line with the public space protection order and made more than 15 alcohol seizures in this area. -Continued deployment of the drug dog in this area has been positive helping us achieve the results listed above.
