Suspicious individuals - TRIUMPH & CHAPELON |
||
|
Hi everyone.
In the last few days we have had two reports of suspicious individuals claiming to be from energy companies or broadband services in an attempt to gain access to residents properties.
The first report is from TRIUMPH, LAKESIDE on 17/12/2025, where a suspicious female knocked on an elderly female residents door at approximately 18:20Hrs claiming to work for a broadband provider. The suspicious female used ‘pushy’ tactics to try and enter the property ‘to check the broadband’. Luckily the local resident refused entry and reported this to Staffordshire Police. The suspicious female did not have any ID or appeared to be wearing any company branding, leaving in a plain vehicle driven by an unknown male.
The second report is from CHAPELON, GLASCOTE HEATH on 18/12/2025, where two suspicious males dressed in all black knocked on an elderly females door at approximately 20:30Hrs claiming to work for an energy company asking ‘to check the boiler’. Again the resident refused entry and reported to Staffordshire Police.
We would like to make you aware of these reports should the activity continue so you can be on guard for possible distraction burglaries. Distraction burglars often work in pairs so one person can distract a would-be victim whilst the other steals items.
To reduce the risk, please follow the below advice: Remember to lock your back door, or any windows, before answering the door Always use a door chain if you have one before you open the door to strangers Consider carrying your mobile phone when you answer the door so you can contact the Police in an emergency Always ask for ID and relevant contact details. Ask the caller to wait outside while you check this Don’t leave visitors alone in your house Do not share you debit/credit card or bank account details with callers Don’t sign up to any work on your doorstep.
