PCN Scam |
||
|
Dear resident
We are aware of fraudulent text messages circulating that claim you have an outstanding parking fine (PCN) and urge you to make an immediate payment.
These messages are NOT genuine.
They often:
Appear to look like a GOV.UK parking payment page Come from unknown mobile numbers Include links that are not gov.uk websites Use urgent or threatening language (e.g. licence revocation, credit score impact) Ask you to enter vehicle registration or payment details
Important to know:
Local councils do not issue parking fines by text message Official parking payments are only made through legitimate council websites ending in gov.uk The DVLA and councils will not threaten immediate enforcement by SMS
What you should do:
Do NOT click on that link Do NOT provide personal or payment details DELETE the message Report it to ACTION FRAUD
If you are unsure if you owe a parking fine, check directly with your local council using their official website or contact details.
Please share this post with family, friends and neighbours – particularly those who may be more vulnerable to scams.
