#WinterOfAction | Those who visit Merthyr’s town centre over the Christmas period to commit crime or anti-social behaviour can expect a frosty reception this Christmas and into the New Year.
A ‘Winter of Action’ by police, community wardens and retailers, with vital help from Merthyr Council’s extensive CCTV operation, has already resulted in multiple arrests and seizures of Surron bikes.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector, Leigh Parfitt, said: “The reality is that a relatively small number of people account for most of the problems in the town centre – if they know they are being watched and likely to be arrested, they will stay away.”
