Courier Fraud |
||
|
We have received a report of courier fraud in the Ferndown area this week and I would like to remind residents how to protect themselves from becoming a victim of this type of crime.
Courier fraud typically involves fraudsters contacting victims by phone, claiming to be police officers, bank staff, or other officials. They may say there is an issue with your bank account or that your card has been compromised. Victims are then persuaded to hand over bank cards, cash, or personal details to a “courier” who comes to their home.
Please remember the following advice:
Banks and police will never ask you to withdraw money or hand over bank cards.
Police officers will never send a courier to collect money or valuables.
Never share your PIN, passwords, or personal details with anyone.
If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately — wait a few minutes or use a different phone before contacting your bank using the number on the back of your card.
If you believe you have received a suspicious call or may have been targeted, please report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or online at www.actionfraud.police.uk. If you believe a crime is in progress, call 999.
Please consider sharing this information with friends, family, and neighbours, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to this type of fraud.
Thank you for your continued support.
Regards,
PCSO Adam Fitzwalter. | ||
