Dear Resident
A woman has been jailed after pleading guilty to thefts in #HemelHempstead. Maddie Payne, aged 24, of no fixed address, appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday (17 December) charged with theft from a motor vehicle and theft from a shop. Payne was identified through CCTV footage after a mobile phone was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the town during the early hours of Tuesday (16 December). She was arrested later on in the day, having just stolen meat items from Marks and Spencer in the town centre. She was charged and pleaded guilty to both offences. Payne was given a four-week sentence, with an additional 12 months to run concurrently, having activated a suspended sentence order. The order had been put in place after she pleaded guilty to several theft from motor vehicle offences during a hearing earlier this month.
