We are urging residents to report suspicious door knockers and to keep their houses secure following reports of burglaries and attempted burglaries.
On Tuesday 16 December, we received three reports of burglaries in Market Rasen, Louth and Welton.
🚨 Incident 381 was believed to have happened between 7.35pm and 8.05pm at a property on Magna Mile in Ludford. Windows in the conservatory were damaged and keys and a camera were reportedly stolen from the property. 🚨 Incident 416 was reported to have happened around 9pm at a property on St Marys Avenue in Welton. It is not known if anything was stolen from the property, but damage was reportedly caused to the door. 🚨 Incident 423 was reported just after 9pm at a property on Sycamore Drive in Louth. A sum of cash was reportedly taken, along with jewellery and work boots. A wallet was also reportedly taken, but it has since been recovered.
We are also investigating incident 315, which is a report of suspicious activity at a property on Beecher’s Way in Market Rasen. A man reportedly witnessed two men jumping the fence from the garden of the property, getting into a car and driving off. Thankfully no damage was caused, and nothing was reported to have been taken.
Reports of individuals door knocking around the Welton area, purporting to work with Hello Fresh or a charity, have also been reported to us.
If you have witnessed any suspicious door knockers or anyone acting suspiciously in your area and have captured CCTV or RING doorbell footage, we would like to hear from you. Please report this by calling 101 or emailing John.Biggs@lincs.police.uk quoting the reference numbers above.
Protect yourself from door-to-door fraud with the following tips:
➡️ If someone knocks at your front door claiming to be from a company, check their ID. If you’re not happy, don’t let them in. ➡️ Never call the phone number on a salesperson's ID card to check them out. Ask them to wait outside, shut the door and find the company number on the internet. If they’re genuine, they’ll understand. ➡️ Report suspicious activity to 101 or you can also report this to Report Fraud: UK's Home for Reporting Cyber Crime & Fraud - Report Fraud
It’s vital to leave your home secure whenever you leave it. Here are some tips on what you should do before you go out:
➡️ Close and lock all your doors and windows, even if you’re only going out for a few minutes. Consider double locking the door. ➡️ Make sure that any valuables are out of sight. ➡️ Lock your shed or garage and make sure you side gate is locked. |
