Working together to keep our streets safe |

Hi Resident, we want to highlight some of the ways offenders take advantage of opportunities for criminal gain.
As the nights draw in, we often see a rise in personal robberies across the county. Amongst other tactics and activities, here are some of the ways we’re working to keep you safe:
✅ Increasing high-visibility patrols in areas where robberies have previously occurred
We believe our communities should be able to go about their daily lives without fear of disruption or threat. However, we know that criminals seek to exploit specific locations and circumstances. Be Vigilant Criminals take advantage of moments when people are distracted. Wearing headphones or looking down at your phone can reduce your awareness of what’s happening around you. Stick to well-lit paths and busy streets. Where possible, avoid shortcuts through dark alleyways or secluded areas. If you feel uneasy or sense someone may be following you, change your route immediately and head to a well-populated area or into a shop where you can safely call for help. Keep Your Valuables Safe Keep your bag closed and close to you. Unattended items are an easy target for those with ill intent. There’s no shame in keeping your valuables stashed away in your pockets or bag until you’ve reached your destination. Items on display can attract unwanted attention. Did you know you can purchase security marking kits from Immobilise to mark your phone, headphones and other valuables? Once marked, you can register your items via www.immobilise.com, which increases the chances of your belongings being returned to you if lost or stolen. REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY Seen something? Heard Something? Report it! Your knowledge is our power. By reporting what you know, we can builder a better picture of crime in your area and take action. Visit: www.beds.police.uk/ro Do you know someone involved in criminality? Is there an address you would like to report? You can report anonymously via Crimestoppers. It's not about who you are, but what you know. Visit: crimestoppers-uk.org or call 0800 555 111
We're working #TogetherForBedfordshire! That means collaborating with partners across the community to ensure our county remains a safe and welcome place to live, work, visit and shop. You can find out more on our website: Together For Bedfordshire | Bedfordshire Police
