Bogus Caller |
||
|
Good Morning Yesterday afternoon on 17/12/2025 a local resident had a bogus caller to their address in Oswestry Town, claiming to be from a well known stair lift manufacturer.
They claimed to be working on behalf of said company and were there to do a service on their stairs.
A very switched on resident who does own a stair lift questioned their credentials and asked for ID, to which they had none.
1 male described as a white male with strawberry blonde hair and long beard, in his 30's around 5f 10, a green t-shirt and camo army trousers.
A second male was seen walking in the area with a balaclava style face covering with a black hoodie.
No entry was gained to the property and they left the area.
A call to the company confirmed they were not sent on their instruction.
An area search was carried out by police which unfortunately proved negative.
We send this message as a gentle reminder if you are unsure, to always ask for identification, a reputable company will not mind you asking, if needed close the door and call the company direct. If you are not sure don't let them in.
If you are really concerned that a person at your door is not genuine and trying to gain access then contact the police at the time. If you are concerned around cold callers, tell them politely you are not interested and close the door/ talk to them through a window and don't allow access, contact a neighbour who might be willing to pop across to speak to them on your behalf.
Call 101 for non emergency Call 999 in an emergency
Many thanks
