Business Retail Crime - Good News Stories |
||
|
Good afternoon, I just wanted to share some recent good news stories highlighting the great work that your West End Town Centre Teams are doing to combat retail crime. Facial Recognition: One of our top shoplifters who was unidentified, was put through facial recognition in September following a spate of shoplifts and an assault. She was positively identified and became wanted by the police for 8 crimes. Today on a Live Facial Recognition operation in Oxford Street, she was pinged and was duly arrested along with £700 worth of coats that she had just stolen! Going Equipped To Steal: PC Mason O'Connor and PC Angus Reeves from TCT B were on Great Marlborough Street when they heard shouting from Carnaby Street, they ran down and saw a very agitated male, he was stopped and searched and in his pocket was a sock with a metal tag remover – he was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and going equipped to steal. Operation West End Arrest: PC Mason O'Connor and PS Eryka Wessel from TCT B were conducting joint patrols with New West End Company security team, they went to a store in Oxford Street in regards to an aggressive shoplifter. PC O'Connor arrested her for theft as she had stolen £1800 worth of goods, she was further arrested for going equipped as she had scissors and clippers in her possession used for cutting off tags and possession of Class A drugs as she had crystal meth also in her possession, further checks showed that she was wanted by the police for a retail burglary as well! These 3 recent incidents from this week are perfect examples of the dedication that your teams have in driving down retail and business crime in the West End, working together with our partners we are making the West End a safer place for all. Many thanks,
