I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti Social Behaviour, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Police have been putting in lots of hard work this week, catching criminals, tacking anti-social behaviour and preventing crime. I am pleased to update you with the following results for Stevenage Town Centre and 9 Yards as a part of Winter of Action initiative.
Police had arrested three suspects at 9 Yards on 10/12/2025 whilst conducting their patrols in the area. Their quick actions led to not just the arrests but charges for all offences that they were arrested for. The arrests are as follows;
- The first suspect was arrested for Theft from a Shop and Failure to Appear. - The second suspect was arrested for X3 The from from a Shop, X3 Breach of their Criminal Behaviour Order and Assault on a Emergency Worker. - The third suspect was arrested for Theft from a Shop.
As a part of operation Scootherts, Police have been seizing E-scooters and illegally modified E-bikes. These vehicles when seized are taken to our local compound and crushed by the recovery company as there are no way to insure them whatsoever. This week, we seized the following;
- X2 E-scooters - X1 E-bike
On top of this, PCSO 6209 CHARTERS completed a community engagement event at 9 Yards, whereby she has helped educate people around E-scooters, what E-bikes are legal and illegal and the differences between them. It was a positive turn out, educating those who may be thinking of purchasing one.
On 12/12/2025, a prolific offender had been arrested for X4 Theft from a Shop whereby over £1200.00 worth of meat had been stolen and X1 Attempted Theft from a Shop. We had secured charges for various offences and the suspect is due to appear in court for the thefts.
On 15/12/2025, Police were conducting more plain clothed patrols in Stevenage Town Centre and 9 Yards in order to catch criminals. They provided some excellent work which can be found below;
- X1 Section 1 Stop and Search which led to a suspect being arrested or theft. The suspect had completed a community resolution. - X1 suspect arrested for two counts of Theft from a Shop
Operation Hotspot has continued throughout December, boosting high visibility officer presence the high volume areas where Anti-Social Behaviour is prone to occur. This involves officers, SGT's and PCSO's giving up their well earned rest days in order to help keep Stevenage a safe place. We thank those who have given up their days off in order to help with these extra patrols.
 Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: - civil injunctions.
- criminal behaviour orders.
- public spaces protection orders.
- community protection notices.
- dispersal powers.
- closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.herts.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
