Statement on behalf of Slough Borough Council, Slough CVS and Slough Faiths Standing Together |
||
|
We are deeply saddened by the attack during Hanukkah celebrations at Bondi Beach in Australia. Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of the victims and with the Jewish community. At moments like this, it is more important than ever that we stand together, show kindness, and support one another. Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, marks resilience, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness. Slough is a place of tolerance and diversity, and we will always stand up against racism in all its forms. We are in close contact with Thames Valley Police on their plans to keep all communities safe and reassured. We hope our community can always unite against hate so everyone can live peaceful lives together. As candles are lit over the coming days, they can serve as a reminder of the strength found in community, compassion, and unity, even in the most difficult times.
