NO Excuse for Abuse |
||
|
Dear Resident
Offering advice, information and support to DA victims.
No Excuse For Abuse poster While many of us are looking forward to spending Christmas with the family, this time of year can be daunting for many. It often comes with more time spent at home, time off work or school, excess drinking and money worries. While there is no excuse for abuse any time of the year, many of these additional factors can make abuse and the fear of abuse even worse. Reports of domestic abuse are usually higher in December than most other months, with over 2,000 crimes recorded in December 2024 alone. There is no ‘them and us’ when it comes to victims and survivors of domestic abuse – they are our friends, our family, our neighbours and our colleagues. Each festive period we launch our external ‘No Excuse For Abuse’ external campaign. Launched today (Wednesday 10 December), this year’s campaign will see DA victims provided with essential advice, information and support in relation to domestic abuse. A poster for the campaign is attached The campaign is being supported by local charities, councils, healthcare services and partners and will be promoted widely across the county.
Regards PCSO Andy Machin
