Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Message

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

On Wednesday, 10 December 2025, PC Thompson led Operation Storehammer with support from the British Transport Police and the Metropolitan Police Dog Unit (M07). Our incredible drug detection dogs, Jenson and Saffy, helped officers identify individuals who may have been in possession of drugs. Officers then used their Stop and Search powers where appropriate.

On Saturday, 13 December 2025, PC Glynn organised a Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) engagement stall, successfully run by Isle of Dogs PCSOs and Tower Hamlets Council.
Alongside this, plain-clothes officers patrolled the Canary Wharf estate to respond to VAWG-related incidents and offences linked to the night-time economy. The engagement stall worked as intended, enabling members of the public to report an exposure incident, which was dealt with promptly. When operating the stall, PCSO Bruno Tomasso Lazzarotti was flagged down by Canary Wharf security regarding a male carrying a taser. With support from PCSO Amanda Symeon and PCSO Abdul Salik, the male was detained on the platform. PC Chloe Glynn conducted a search and discovered a knuckleduster with an electric shock mechanism. The male was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and later further arrested for possession of Class A drugs.

Results from these operations:

✅ 12 Community Resolutions
✅ 22 Stop and Searches
