Detectives investigating the circumstances of a collision in Bournemouth town centre are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
At around 12.25am on Monday 15 December 2025 a road traffic collision occurred in Old Christchurch Road, near to the junction with Wootton Gardens involving a black BMW and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian sustained injuries to his leg and arm but did not require immediate medical treatment.
It was reported that following the collision, the BMW drove off from the scene and was subsequently seen by officers in Lansdown Road, where it failed to stop for police.
Following further enquiries, a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and driving offences. He remains in police custody at this time.
Detective Inspector Jon Sainsbury, of BCP CID, said: “We are carrying out detailed enquiries into the circumstances of this incident and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.
“From our investigations so far, we understand there were a number of people in the vicinity, including members of the public who intervened and attempted to get the suspect out of his vehicle following the collision.
“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam footage, to please make contact with us.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250183661. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online using its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111. | ||
