Dear Residents, Here’s a brief snippet of what our Smethwick Neighbourhood Team have been up to this week: Officers on Cape Hill have had a vehicle which failed to stop when directed. Officers managed to locate and stop the car nearby. Occupants of the vehicle were detained and searched. The driver had no license and was reported for driving with no insurance or license and their car seized. Officers on Cape Hill have been stopping and advising drivers due to their manner of driver. It has been highlighted by residents that there is a big issue with cars speeding. Positive action has been taken against drivers who have been violating traffic laws during these stops. St Pauls PCSO’s have had a meeting with the events manager at the Hawthorns football ground in relation to Greggs in response to complaints around people begging outside Greggs nearby we are currently working on solutions together and offering support to the homeless peoples and working around long-term intervention plans. PCSO’s for the St Pauls area have also attended a community day at the Brasshouse engaging with our local communities who attended this event offering advise and support where needed. Smethwick town PCSO’s have attended Grosvenor Studies in Handsworth alongside Chief Superintendent Kim Madill this was a very positive event which marked the end of the white ribbon day. Cape Hill officers have attended the Midland Metropolitan Hospital for Christmas festivities where local schools performed Christmas songs, following which officers spoke around crime prevention locally. Officers have arrested a nominal for multiple counts of failing to appear a court for assaulting police officers. St Pauls PCSO’s have conducted a cuppa with a copper at St Alban’s community centre which is focused around engaging with local people. During this visit we have agreed new dates for next year. Local PCSO’s have conducted a drop-in police surgery at Smethwick library talking to the local people offering support and advice to those who ask for it. |
