Your New Met for London in Wandsworth |

Your New Met for London in Wandsworth This week the Met is launched the next phase of the New Met for London plan – and we are building on a mission that is working. We are driving down neighbourhood crime like phone-snatching and shoplifting by 14%, injuries from violence is at a 5-year low and we are arresting more than 1,000 extra criminals a month. Locally here in Wandsworth we have also seen some real achievements including: Focussing on reducing anti-social behaviour and crime on our streets by increasing police visibility. As a result, there has been 60 fewer offences for personal robbery this year in the borough. Reducing Burglary in the borough; there have 17 fewer offences this year and 40 fewer violent incidents that resulted in injury. Targeting vehicle crime in Wandsworth and as a result there has been 31 less offences for theft from a motor vehicle this year. The New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will see us: Put you and Londoners across the city at the heart of precise community crime-fighting, investing more in our local neighbourhood crime-fighting teams, driving performance on the frontline and making sure you can influence where we focus our efforts. Harness the power of technology and data to make a profound shift in how we police London and Wandsworth. Across the city the Met is looking at expanding the use of facial recognition technology and becoming even more precise in targeting the small number of offenders who cause the most harm, and the places and victims that suffer most. Build new partnerships and improve existing ones – whether with the public, private or the third sector – to achieve the best possible outcomes for you. As part of this commitment to listening to you, we hosted our Community Crime-Fighting event on Tuesday 14th October 2025, where you told us your main priorities were: Tackling dangerous riding and theft enabled by e-bikes and e-scooters. Increase the safety for women and girls on our streets. Reduce anti-social behaviour across Wandsworth by increasing police presence and visibility. Thanks to your input, we are now working hard to tackle these issues by: Launching a new crackdown on dangerous riding and thefts by e-bikes and e-scooters. Taking an intelligence-led approach and targeting the hotspots worst affected so we can actively deal with those using these vehicles in both an anti-social way and committing crime. Working closely with partners to staff a safe space stall once a month in Battersea to ensure that both women and girls feel safe on our streets by offering both crime prevention and safety advice. We are also using intelligence to target hotspot areas with high visibility policing for both reassurance, deterrence and capture offenders daily. Using intelligence led policing to allow us to target anti-social behaviour hotspots with high visibility patrols to deal with this issue when it occurs. We are also working closely with the council to ensure that problematic areas are reviewed, and the required action is taken to prevent anti social behaviour. The full New Met for London 2 strategy is now available for you to read online. I want to keep the conversation going - so thank you for joining us on Met Engage, which was introduced to help us do exactly that. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and warmest wishes for the New Year.
