Three workers arrested on suspicion of being in the UK illegally Three men were arrested on suspicion of being in the UK illegally during a joint operation involving Evesham officers and Immigration Enforcement earlier this week. Officers from Evesham Safer Neighbourhood Team were joined by Immigration Enforcement officers during a visit to a logistics company on Briar Close, Evesham, on Monday (8 December). Three men were arrested on suspicion of being in the UK illegally and another two men, also suspected of being in the UK illegally, are now subject to further enquiries. The owner of the premises could now face fines of up to £45,000 per illegal worker which could result in fines totalling £135,000. The Home Office Immigration Enforcement will be responsible for any future prosecutions. Safer Neighbourhood Inspector for Wychavon, Dave Wise, said: “On Monday we carried out an operation at a logistics company on Briar Close following concerns around suspected illegal workers being employed there. “Three men were arrested and a further two are being subject to further enquiries following this visit with our partners at Immigration Enforcement. “The premises’ owner could now face substantial fines which shows we are working with Immigration Enforcement and taking concerns around those suspected of working in the UK illegally seriously and will always act on information gathered around this issue.”
