Weekly update. |

|
Dear Residents and Local Businesses, here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, Stoke and Wyken. Officers from the Stoke & Wyken neighbourhood team have had a busy week due to Christmas being just beyond the horizon, we have been supporting a number of teams with their arrests and continuing our patrols in our green spaces and those areas that are affected by anti-social behaviour. Areas such as Warwickshire Retail Park are generally targeted heavily by shoplifters at this time of the year, however we continue our undercover operations to ensure the continued safety of both our residents and business owners. We also have regular pop ups for handing out crime prevention tools such as faraday pouches, alarms and locks at various locations around the Stoke & Wyken area, we will be advertising this more regularly and efficiently so that you our general public can interact with us and receive a number of freebies for your safety and wellbeing. Although If you would like to get in touch about faraday pouches, please send us a message. For those who are not familiar or new to our regular messages, we patrol green spaces such as Caludon Castle Park, Stoke Heath, The Lindfield, Barras Heath, parts of Gosford Park, Morris Park and St Margaret's Park, if you are out and about and see us, please don't hesitate to speak to us, anything suspicious you see and wish to report can be anonymous and may prevent a potential incident from escalating or happening in the first place. Information on how to report issues will be relayed at the bottom of this message. Our targeted patrols which are done both on foot and in our cars are on areas which include Riley Square, Hillmorton Road, Edgwick Park and Walsgrave Road – We are in regular contact with the patrons at St Michaels Church and due to our engagement and presence, issues have greatly reduced. We have had four arrests this week for various offences.
The festive season is here, and it's time to get into the holiday spirit while staying safe. Here are a few quick tips to keep you and your belonging secure: Vehicle security: When parking in public car parks, consider using a secure location with CCTV and good lighting. Always ensure your car is locked by checking the handle before leaving it. Never leave cash, presents, or designer clothes on display in your car. Lock them away in the glove box or boot. If you have a keyless car, invest in a steering lock or Faraday pouch for added protection. Personal Safety Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. Keep a close eye on your belongings and avoid carrying large amounts of cash or valuables. Avoid keeping your phone loose in your pockets. Always keep money and phones in zip pockets or secure bags. Stick to well-lit areas, especially when walking alone at night. Tell someone when you will be home and keep a list of emergency contacts to hand. If you are enjoying festive drinks, always keep an eye on it and never accept a drink from strangers.
Home security Before leaving your home, even for a short time, ensure all doors and windows are secured locked. Close curtains and blinds till dawn light on to make it look like someone's home. Do not share your travel plans or photos or social media while visiting family. If you see or hear something that does not feel right, trust your instincts and report it to security where you are or police straight away. Do not wait for someone else to do it. Naturewatch We have not had any particular information regarding nature this week, this is likely due to the colder weather and the likelihood of animals hibernating and staying hidden until warmer times.
However, as per our previous messages, please get in touch if you have any interesting sightings, we want to take part in getting to talk about a variety of issues that our community enjoys hearing about, due to the traction this harbours, we will endeavour to continue this whenever possible.
We have had some members who have shown interest in talking about fishing as per our messages around the River Sowe and blue algae or perhaps antiques, rest assured, our dedicated PCSO’s will be monitoring this.
For non-emergency enquiries or to raise community concerns in the Wyken area, residents are encouraged to contact Coventry Police through their usual channels.
