Outwood - update

Dear Resident,

We are aware of concerns in the community following a reported sexual assault in Outwood last week.

We would like to reassure local residents that safeguarding colleagues are continuing to follow up all available lines of enquiry. At this time, we only have a brief description of the suspect who was described as around 5ft 6ins tall, wearing all black and a face covering. This is currently being treated as an isolated incident. 

We did have a report of suspicious behaviour in Outwood Park on Monday and we understand that this has further heightened some residents’ concerns. Our officers attended at the scene and found that the incident was not as reported, and all was found to be in order. 

Reassurance patrols are continuing with the North West NPT spending most of the weekend into Monday in Outwood, and they will do so in the evenings for the rest of the week. The other teams that cover West NPT will also provide a presence in the area.
